history

If you’re ever in Idaho, do yourself a favor and check out Isabella Creek. It flows into the North Fork of the Clearwater River, and at one point, its surroundings were home to one of the largest elk herds in the state. Enormous groups of elk migrated from and through the Isabela Creek drainage to lower North Fork elevations to winter.

Today, the herds might look different, but with a bit of luck, you can still call in the biggest bull of your life — assuming you’ve got the Isabella Creek elk reed, that is.

The Isabella Creek elk reed is made with black .003 latex and stretched very little. It’s a low pressure call — the easiest one in our Clearwater series to run. Because of that, it’s great for beginner and advanced callers alike.

With very light air pressure, the Isabella Creek elk reed produces effortless cow and calf calls. Its little bit of stretch adds a nasal sound that this diaphragm’s cousin, The Miner (with its higher pitches and volume), does not have.

Callers will love the Isabella’s soft bugles and chuckles, but where this reed really shines is in that moment just before the shot. This is a reed shooters can use while drawing a bow to get that bull to stop without the worry of the call “sticking.” And that’s a gift about as priceless as the view you’d get, standing on the banks of Isabella Creek.
